December Portsmouth Postal League

The December Portsmouth shoot will be this Thursday, (3rd Dec) Setup time is 6:30 Start time 7:00. Please note there is also a Parent/Teacher evening at the school so the car park may be a little busy!

Compound Team are shooting against Eastboune Archers
Recurve "A" Team are shooting against Canford Magne Bowmen
Recurve "B" Team are shooting against Bognor Regis A.C. "B"

16 Recurve and 4 Compound archers turned out for the November Portsmouth. One archer, who had not shot indoors before made the "A" Team, and 4 of the recent beginners made the "B" Team! Well done to all of them!

PLEASE NOTE: THIS WILL BE THE LAST INDOOR SHOOT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

Aire Valley Christmas Cracker.

Aire Valley have moved the date of their Christmas Cracker to December 6th which means the Frostbite will now be shot on the 13th Dec.

Set up time is 10:00 for a 10:30 Start.

Interested in becoming a coach?

This may be a little late but here goes:-
Stuart Graham is intending to do the training course to become a coach. The course starts on the 6th Dec. If you fancy doing the course I am sure Stuart would be delighted to have your company. Here are the details:-
6th Dec- Induction (half day) at Shaw Lane Barnsley.

10 & 24th Jan and 7th & 21st Feb and 21st March at The Scout Hut, Old Farnsley, Leeds, LS12 5BN.

The internal assesment (sounds painfull!) will be on 19th June in Barnsley.

External assesment on the 17th July either at Barnsley or Harrogate.

The Course costs £150.

Monthly Meeting for December

The Monthly Club Meeting scheduled for the 10th Dec will still be going ahead. More details of time and location as soon as I get them!

For those who have not been to a meeting before it is a chance to find out what goes on at the club. All members have a chance to have their say.

The Roy Widdop Shield Competition.

Dispite the bad weather 13 archers (12 seniors and1 junior) took part in the competition.
Congratulations to Ben Fitton - the second Junior to win the shield. Not only did he see his handicap fall by 4 but he achieves his first bowman score of the year! (jnr under 14 recurve), set a new club record and gains a "Blue" White Rose Badge.
(That was worth getting out of bed for wasn't it Ben?)

Second was Julie-Ann Thomas - Shooting barebow Julie-Anne also managed to set a new club record! Her handicap also comes down by 2 and she gains a "Red" White Rose Badge. Well done Julie-Anne!

Third was Harold Middleton who acheived a personal best for the national round. Well done Harold!

(Brief note on the handicaps for this competition:- It is based on how you have shot recently not on your current handicap.)
